Diving
Viwa Island Resort operates its own PADI dive operation. Michelle Downing is a PADI IDC Staff Instructor and has taught all around the world from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean and also up in the Great Barrier Reef, Australia and in Sydney. She has also worked on film sets as a safety diver and Instructor dealing with both cast and crew.
The dive sites are all within 5 to 15 minutes from the resort by boat. Sites vary from beginner 18m or below right through to deep diving sites 40m, drift dive sites and a wreck site.
Most of the sites are abundant with both soft and hard corals, colourful reef fish, and other vibrant sea life. Our sites are remote from other resorts so the sites are full of colour, with many exciting discoveries to make and the beautiful clean, clear water.

Fishing

Viwa Island Resort operates its own fishing operation. Viwa has two boats available for deep sea fishing to suit all your needs. All the equipment is the best quality – Penn Rods and Shimano Reels.
Because of Viwa’s ideal location, fishing sites can be reached within a 30 minute boat ride from the resort. Fish is in abundance in this area and there is a wide variety caught on each trip. Some of the more popular fish caught are Yellow Fin Tuna, Barracuda, Spanish Mackeral and Mahi Mahi, just to name a few! |
Handline Fishing

If you don’t want to go deep sea fishing but would still like to try your luck, we do have a daily handline fishing trip. This trip is complimentary.
You might find yourself very surprised at the size and quantity of the fish caught on handlines! |
Snorkelling

Snorkelling at Viwa is absolutely fantastic! You can swim straight off the beach out to the edge of the reef where you will see a myriad of colourful fish and coral. Snorkels, masks and fins are all provided complimentary.
If you would like to be a bit more adventurous you can also go on a snorkelling safari with the Dive Instructor. She will be able to take you to a variety of areas only accessible by boat and she will be able to assist with pointing out the large variety of interesting marine life and coral. |
Kayaks

We have a number of kayaks available for your enjoyment. There are single kayaks and two seater kayaks for those who would like someone else to do all the work!
The kayaks are provided complimentary. They are a great form of exercise if that is what you would like. However, you can also enjoy a relaxing paddle depending on how far you wish to go. It is a great way to enjoy the pristine, crystal clear waters of Viwa. |
